We serve the Phoenix metro area, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Glendale, Peoria, Queen Creek, Buckeye, Goodyear and Surprise, and take on commercial projects throughout Arizona.

What types of construction projects does All American Builders take on?

Four main types: custom home builds, residential remodels and additions, commercial construction and tenant improvements, and design-build projects where we manage design and construction together.

Does All American Builders offer free quotes?

Yes. Quotes and consultations are free with no obligation. Call (480) 493-0713 or use the form on this page and we will call you back to schedule a site visit.

Does All American Builders handle design, permits and inspections?

Yes. As a full-service general contractor we have architects, designers and project managers on staff and manage the whole process, including plans, permits, scheduling trades and final inspections.

How much experience does All American Builders have?

More than 25 years of hands-on experience in the Arizona construction industry across residential and commercial projects.

Does All American Builders do both residential and commercial work?

Yes. We build custom homes and remodel existing ones, and we also do ground-up commercial construction and tenant improvements for businesses.

How do I get started on a project with All American Builders?

Call (480) 493-0713 or send your project details through the contact form. We schedule a consultation, visit the site, then provide plans and an itemized estimate before any work begins.

How a Project Works

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The site visit, the conversation about scope and budget, and the estimate that follows are free with no obligation.

Who do I talk to during the project?

One project manager is your single point of contact from the start of the job to the final walkthrough.

Do you handle permits and HOA approval?

Yes. We manage plan submittal, permits, inspections and HOA design review as part of every project that needs them.

What happens if something changes mid-project?

Changes are priced and approved in writing before the work happens. Because design and construction are one team, that happens quickly and without finger-pointing between companies.

Can I get an estimate without a site visit?

Every project is different, so we do not price from a description. To get an actual estimate, we come out, review the site and discuss the work with you, then put together a real number you can plan around.

Do I need my own architect before I contact you?

No. All American Builders has architects and designers on staff, so we can take a custom home from concept through construction drawings. If you already have plans, we are glad to build from them and coordinate with your architect.

Do you handle permits and inspections for a custom home?

Yes. We manage permits, engineering coordination, scheduling of inspections and the final inspections before handover. You have one project manager as your point of contact throughout.

What areas do you build custom homes in?

We are based in Mesa and build custom homes throughout the Phoenix metro, including Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale, Queen Creek and surrounding communities.

Is All American Builders licensed for residential construction?

Yes. All American Builders is a licensed, bonded and insured Arizona general contractor, Arizona ROC #353495.

Can you remodel one room, or do you only take whole-house projects?

We take on both. A single kitchen or bathroom remodel is a normal project for us, as is a whole-home renovation or a second-story addition.

Do you handle design for a remodel or addition?

Yes. Our designers draw the change, our estimators price it from the drawings, and the same team builds it. If you have your own designer, we work from their plans.

Will I need permits for a room addition in Arizona?

Almost always, and often for interior remodels that touch structure, plumbing or electrical. All American Builders handles permits and inspections as part of the project.

Do you build ADUs?

Yes. We design and build detached casitas, attached suites with their own entrance and garage conversions, including the utilities, foundation and permits an accessory dwelling unit requires. See the Mulberry Residence project for a detached ADU we built.

What areas do you serve for remodeling?

Mesa and the surrounding Phoenix metro, including Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale and Queen Creek.

Do you work in occupied buildings?

Yes. Office renovations and tenant improvements in occupied buildings are common for us. We plan phasing, after-hours work and containment so neighbouring tenants and your own staff can keep working.

Can you build from my landlord's or architect's drawings?

Yes. We build from existing drawings and coordinate directly with the architect, engineer and landlord. If you need design, our in-house team can provide it.

Do you take commercial projects outside the Phoenix metro?

Yes. Our primary area is Mesa and the Phoenix metro, and we take on commercial projects throughout Arizona on a case-by-case basis.

Is All American Builders licensed for commercial work?

All American Builders is a licensed, bonded and insured Arizona general contractor, Arizona ROC #353495. Ask us about the specific license classification for your project when we meet.

What is the difference between design-build and hiring an architect and a contractor separately?

In design-build, one company is responsible for both the design and the construction under one contract. Cost is checked during design, and there is a single point of accountability. With separate firms, the drawings are finished first and then bid to contractors, which is where budgets are often discovered to be off.

Do you offer design-build for both homes and commercial projects?

Yes. We use the same in-house design and construction team for custom homes, additions, tenant improvements and commercial buildings.

Can I bring my own architect and still work with you?

Yes. We build from your architect's drawings and coordinate with them directly. Design-build is an option, not a requirement.

Where do you offer design-build services?

Mesa and the Phoenix metro for residential and commercial work, and throughout Arizona for larger commercial projects.

Are ADUs allowed in the Phoenix metro?

In most larger cities, yes. Arizona's 2024 law requires larger municipalities to allow ADUs on single-family lots, with each city setting its own size, setback and parking standards. Smaller towns, county areas and HOAs have their own rules, so we confirm what applies to your parcel first.

What is the difference between an ADU and a casita?

A casita with a kitchen, bathroom and its own entrance is an ADU. A guest room or pool house without a kitchen is an addition or accessory structure, which is permitted differently.

Does an ADU need its own utilities?

It needs water, sewer, electricity and cooling. Whether those are separately metered depends on the city and utility. Routing them to the unit is a significant part of the work and is evaluated during the site visit.

Can you convert my garage into an ADU?

Often, yes. A garage conversion avoids a new foundation but requires insulation, fire separation from the house, a full kitchen and bath, and usually replacing the garage door with a wall and windows. City parking rules can also apply.

How do I get a price for an ADU?

Contact All American Builders to have someone come out, review the lot and utilities, discuss what you want to build and put together an actual estimate.

Can I rent out an ADU in the Phoenix metro?

In many cities, yes, though rules on short-term rental differ by city and some HOAs prohibit rentals. We confirm what your city and HOA allow before design starts.

Is an ADU a good option for aging parents?

It is one of the most common reasons people build one. A single-level unit with wide doorways and a no-step shower gives a parent independence with family next door.

Do you build detached and attached ADUs?

Yes. Detached casitas, attached suites with a separate entrance, and garage conversions are all projects we design and build.

How do I find out if my lot qualifies?

Contact All American Builders. We review the parcel, the city's ADU standards, any HOA rules, utilities and access, and tell you what is realistic before anyone draws a plan.

Do I need a permit for a room addition in Arizona?

Yes. Every Arizona city and county requires a building permit for a room addition, with staged inspections during construction. All American Builders handles the submittal, plan review and inspections.

Can I add a room anywhere on my lot?

No. Setbacks, lot-coverage limits, height limits and easements restrict where an addition can go, and HOA guidelines may add further limits. Checking those first is the starting point of the design.

Will my air conditioner handle the new room?

Not always. We check the existing system's capacity early and, if it is already at its limit, plan for a larger unit or a separate mini-split so the whole house stays comfortable.

Do you do second-story additions?

Yes, where the lot, the existing structure and the city's height limits allow. A second story involves more engineering than a ground-floor addition, which we evaluate during the consultation.

How do I get a price for a room addition?

Contact All American Builders to have someone come out, review the site, discuss the work and put together an actual estimate for what you want to build.

What Design-Build Means and When It Makes Sense

Read more about what design-build means and when it makes sense →

What is the difference between design-build and design-bid-build?

In design-build one company handles both design and construction under a single contract, with cost checked during design. In design-bid-build you hire an architect first, finish the drawings, then bid them to separate contractors.

Is design-build cheaper?

It is usually more predictable rather than automatically cheaper. Cost is part of the design conversation from the start, which avoids the redesign cycles that happen when bids come in over budget.

Can I use design-build if I already have an architect?

You can, but it may add little. If you already have plans, All American Builders will build from them and coordinate with your architect directly.

Is design-build only for commercial projects?

No. It works for custom homes, additions and remodels as well as tenant improvements and commercial buildings.
